The Saving Faith Common to All Believers

The faith of Jesus Christ that gives salvation is common to all believers; therefore, there is only one faith. This is the gospel that we preach.

For by grace you have been saved through faith…

Eph 2:8 NKJV

one Lord, one faith, one baptism

Eph 4:5 NKJV

To Titus, a true son in [our] common faith…

Tit 1:4 NKJV

The essential items of our faith:

  1. Jesus Christ is God come in the flesh, man. He is both God and man.

Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."

Mat 1:23 NKJV

but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Jhn 20:31 NKJV

2. Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world and was buried, and He was resurrected on the third day.

I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you…by which also you are saved. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

1Co 15:1-4 NKJV

3. Jesus Christ is the Lord.

"This Jesus God has raised up... 36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

Act 2:32, 36 NKJV

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Rom 10:9 NKJV

  1. Jesus Christ is indwelling all His believers.

Examine yourselves [as to] whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified.

2Co 13:5 NKJV

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Col 1:27 NKJV

The above verses show the simplicity of salvation and the receiving of eternal life through the faith in Jesus Christ. All believers of Jesus Christ have exactly the same faith. It is through this common faith that believers are born anew (born again), regenerated with God’s eternal divine life.

Although all followers of Jesus start their life in Christ with this simple faith, many Christians become distracted by many other doctrines and practices that caused them to divide in the body of Christ.

Growth and maturity of believers are manifested when they arrive at the unity or oneness of the faith. Although the faith is so simple, it takes maturity to eventually drop all distracting things to come back to Jesus Christ alone as the focus, the center and the sole pursuit of spiritual knowledge (Eph 4:13-14).
